TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A United Airlines flight going from Tampa to San Francisco had to make an emergency landing due to a mechanical issue, a spokesperson for the airline said.

It happened Friday night, and flight UAL 2301 was diverted to San Antonio, where the plane landed safely.

A spokesperson for United Airlines said the plane in question was a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and it was carrying 179 passengers and 6 crew members.

The spokesperson also said all passengers were switched to a replacement aircraft to get them back on their way to San Francisco.
