LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Carpetland Baseball (Lincoln East) was named the Class A Legion State Champions after Gene’s Auto (Papillion-La Vista South) forfeited the title game on Saturday.

This all unfolded due to Pinnacle Bank (Lincoln Southwest) being removed from the title on Friday due to Legion Nationals ruling them ineligible.

Per a source, LSW played a pitcher in the final 2 innings of semifinals that was ineligible to play. Papillion-La Vista South submitted an appeal due to the player pitching and won the appeal.

All 3 teams found out the appeal result on Friday and due to Gene’s Auto not having enough players in town for the game on Saturday the team ultimately had to forfeit the game.
