The Denver Gazette shadowed the starting quarterback on Saturday before, during, and after the team’s first scrimmage at Broncos Park.

9:15 a.m. The calm before the storm. Players are still in the locker room while the field maintenance crew makes final preparations for practice. They carry buckets of sand and sprinkle it into missing pieces of sod on two grass fields. Members of the equipment crew buzz around on golf carts placing practice mat pads, sleds and other football training items in different spots.
