Columbus, Neb. (KTIV) - The Nebraska State Patrol Special Investigations Team is investigating a Columbus Police Department officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon August 2, 2025.

According to a release from the NSP, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the patrol was requested to investigate an incident in which a Columbus Police Department officer was injured, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Preliminary investigation shows that while Columbus officers were conducting an investigation in the 3000 block of 13th Street, a female subject attacked one of the officers with a knife, injuring the officer. Another officer then discharged a firearm, striking the female subject.
