GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man is dead after he walked up to Greensboro police officers early Sunday morning asking for help, moments before collapsing from being shot, police said.
The man, identified as 34-year-old Orion Matthew Sanzeni, was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by officers and EMS personnel to save him.
The incident began around 2:45 a.m. when officers responded to reports of shots fired including shots fired into a vehicle in the 800 block of Eula Street. Just six minutes later, officers working an unrelated traffic crash near Gate City Boulevard and South Chapman Street were approached by Sanzeni, who had been shot in the torso. He collapsed shortly after speaking to the officers, police said.
