BEND, Ore. (AP) — The National Weather Service in Pendleton issued a Sunday afternoon for north-central Deschutes County, effective until 3:30 p.m. PDT. At 2:50 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Bend, moving north at 20 mph. Radar indicated wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail, which could cause damage to vehicles, roofs, siding and trees. Communities impacted include Bend and Tumalo.
A shelter in place was announced at the Deschutes Co. Fair and Rodeo due to the severe storm.
Shortly before that, at 2:47 p.m., a was issued for northwestern Deschutes County, noting a strong thunderstorm over Bend moving northwest at 20 mph. This storm was expected to bring wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel-size hail. Areas affected include Bend, Redmond, Tumalo and Deschutes River W
