INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway after a shooting led to an hours-long standoff on Indy's near east side Saturday night.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of East Washington Street on the report of a person shot.
When police arrived on scene, they located an adult female with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, police said.
Investigators indicated that the alleged shooter barricaded himself inside a nearby home after firing shots and refused to come out. Eventually, an IMPD special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team arrived on scene.
