WATERTOWN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Harrisburg Gold is on top of the state in American Legion Baseball, as the team is celebrating its 2-0 win over Yankton in Saturday’s Class A title game.
For a team that’s focused a lot on their bats and offensive play, yesterday’s match was an endurance test on the mound.
Kason Syverson led the team with six shutout innings, tallying nine strikeouts in the game. That performance is earning him praise from his teammates.
“Because he pitched against Yankton already in this tournament and shut them out. A second time shutting them out, I mean, a great performance by him. That was huge. Just to put a zero on the board, keep us ahead the whole game, a really good job for Kason,” Harrisburg Gold SS/RHP Eli Kokenge said.
