MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Police in northwestern Indiana are investigating after a man was shot outside a bar early Sunday morning.
According to a release from the Michigan City Police Department , around 2:34 a.m. on Aug. 3, 911 dispatchers received "multiple" calls saying shots were being fired outside Mateys Restaurant, which is located at 110 Franklin Street in Michigan City.
Dispatchers were told that fights were reportedly taking place inside and outside of the bar.
When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old man in the parking lot across the street from the bar suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say the man was taken to Franciscan Hospital for treatment before he was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital for "advanced care."
