MUNCIE, Ind. — Indiana State Police are investigating after a suspect was shot and killed by police in Muncie Sunday evening.

On Aug. 4, the Delaware County coroner identified the man as 35-year-old Jesse Robinson.

Around 8 p.m. Aug. 3, Muncie police officers responded to a report of shots fired and damaged houses near the intersection of East 23rd Street and South Mock Avenue .

When officers arrived on the scene, they heard "numerous active gunshots" and found a man, later identified as Robinson, who was armed with handgun, according to ISP.

After a "prolonged standoff with the individual," an officer shot Robinson. He was then taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

ISP says no officers were injured in the shooting.
