After graduating from Highland School of Technology, Cleris Sanchez found herself in many situations she did not expect.

Like becoming a mother at 20 years old, standing by a loved one with alcohol addiction, and having thyroid surgery due to medical issues.

Despite all of the challenges she has faced in life, Sanchez said she is coming to see them as directional beacons on her path.

In recent years, she found her voice, sold her home to become a business owner and started a podcast to help others reach their most confident selves, she said.

Sanchez was born in the Bronx in New York City.

Her mother, Yenny Sanchez, who was just 15 years old when she was pregnant with Cleris, wanted more for her kids.
