Pierce County, which has the second largest homeless population in the state, aims to unify the county’s efforts to tackle the crisis, an approach echoing the 2021 formation of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority.
The Pierce County Council approved $1 million last year to kick-start the process, and hired a consulting organization, Uncommon Bridges, to talk to elected officials, nonprofits, experts, homeless people and other stakeholders with a goal to begin standing up a new organization in 2026.
