When I was young, under ten years old, I was an unabashed fan of the Detroit Lions. My father and grandfather were both Lions fans, being from Michigan, so that’s what I thought I needed to be as well. I was also born and spent my early life in Greenville, Ohio (near Dayton) and Danville, Kentucky, so I had no inclination to follow the Browns at the time. It was only when my family moved to Cleveland in the early 1970s that a still-young future Webdork began to adopt the Browns.

I don’t remember exactly how the NFL was divided up in those days. Still, I recall that the Lions had a tough time within their division, particularly against the Minnesota Vikings, “Purple People Eaters” wh
