SOUTH CAROLINA (WBTV) - A United States congresswoman officially announced her campaign to be South Carolina’s next governor on Monday morning.

Nancy Mace -- a Republican -- confirmed her candidacy on social media and on Aug. 4, nearly five years after she was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Mace has represented South Carolina’s District 1 in Washington since 2021, and has been in national headlines at times.

A staunch Trump supporter, the 47-year-old served in the South Carolina House of Representatives prior to joining Congress.
