BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (WBTV) - An inmate stabbed two corrections officers at a South Carolina prison on Thursday, officials said.
Sister-station reported that the stabbing happened on Aug. 7 at the Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville.
State officials said the two officers were taken to a local hospital and were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
The inmate -- whose name was not released -- was reportedly moved to another prison. It is unclear what charges that inmate was initially being held on, or if they are now facing more. It is also not clear what the officers were stabbed with or how the inmate obtained the item.
According to the South Carolina Department of Corrections, Evans Correctional Institution is a medium-security, male prison.
