A 1-year-old child was rushed to the hospital Thursday after police responded to a report of a near drowning in Mattapan, police said.

Officers went to Standard Street at approximately 7:24 p.m. after a radio call, according to Officer Mark Marron, a police department spokesperson.

Officers provided aid to the child, who was taken to a local hospital, Marron said. The child’s condition was not available on Friday morning.

Police are investigating as a standard precaution due to the child’s age and the seriousness of the injuries, Marron said.
