INDIANAPOLIS — A judge has sentenced a man to 90 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to murdering James McGuire and David Doty over a $40 lawn care bill.
Michael Hendricks was sentenced after pleading guilty to the crimes on Aug. 4.
“We have two individuals who lost their lives and a man now serving nearly 100 years behind bars over what literally amounted to $40 — that is absolutely devastating,” Marion County Prosecutor Mears said in a statement. “Today’s resolution provides swift accountability and a sense of justice for the McGuire and Doty families without the prolonged trial process.”
Hendricks himself is recovering after being shot by police.
