Nine cases of measles linked to out-of-state travel have been confirmed in northwest Wisconsin, as the highly contagious disease sees a resurgence nationwide.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and Oconto County Public Health announced over the weekend that these are the state's first cases of measles so far in 2025.
One of the cases in Oconto County was confirmed through laboratory testing and eight additional cases were confirmed based on exposure and symptoms, according to the department.
All of the patients were exposed to a common source during out-of-state travel.
No public points of exposure have been identified by public health officials, and the risk to the community surrounding Green Bay remains low.
