HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Since 1984, National Night Out has brought together law enforcement and the residents they serve for an evening of fun and connection. Now, communities across Nebraska—from Scottsbluff to Omaha—celebrate the tradition on the first Tuesday in August.
And in Hastings, officials have quite the event planned.
The Hastings Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, and Nebraska State Patrol will all come together to provide demonstrations and serve a free dinner. Some of the featured activities will showcase tools of the trade, including K-9s and drones.
Capt. Jason Haase of Hastings Police says the event is especially impactful for kids, helping them understand the people behind the badge—and possibly even inspiring future officers.
“It really is twofold,”
