MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota's top legislative leaders addressed hundreds of lawmakers from across the country Monday at the opening of the National Conference of State Legislatures summit in Boston, where they honored the legacy of the late Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and called on elected officials to follow her model of bipartisanship.

GOP House Speaker Lisa Demuth and DFL Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy both delivered speeches after appearing on stage together. Later, State Senator John Hoffman appeared in a video recording that was played for the audience, in what amounted to some of Hoffman's first public comments since the attempt on his life June 14.
