GHENT, WV (WVNS) -- The Division of Natural Resources has made some new changes to West Virginia's hunting regulations for the 2025-2026 hunting season.

Lieutenant Colonel David Trader with the Natural Resource Police says there are a few main ones.

Firstly, hunters are advised that the season dates and open counties for several animals have changed.

Second, to prevent the spread of chronic wasting disease, hunters from southern West Virginia who travel to the Eastern Panhandle to hunt will be under new restrictions during deer season.

Lt. Col. Trader said the change that eliminates minimum hunting age during deer season was a recommendation.
