'You're the best crowd we've had this summer' - the laudatory sentiment was one commonly repeated by bands at this year's Y Not Festival. The Derbyshire music celebration held between July 31 to August 3 is one of many indie festivals to take place in the past few weeks.

Last weekend (August 24 to 27) saw Sheffield's Tramlines and Oxfordshire's Truck festivals bring thousands of music fans to packed-out fields across the country, while the weekend of Y Not was also the date of Kendall Calling in Cumbria.

All festivals had fairly similar line-ups - it's something that was often noted by the bands themselves, with many telling the crowd they had come straight from another event to play to the Derbyshire crowd .
