WEST PLAINS, Mo. (KY3) -West Plains Police charged a man after he allegedly left a child in a hot car in a Walmart parking lot.

According to West Plains Police, Luca Woodard is charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Court documents state that on July 20, at around 7:15 p.m., a West Plains police officer responded to a report of an unattended 4-year-old child locked inside an unoccupied vehicle at 1310 Preach Roe Blvd.

Once on the scene, a good Samaritan had already broken the driver’s side window of the vehicle to retrieve the child, according to the probable cause statement.

Woodard later admitted to knowingly leaving the victim inside the vehicle with the windows rolled up and turning the vehicle off before entering the store, police said.
