WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A 20-year-old Purdue University student who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and taken to a holding facility in Louisiana has been released.

Photos from the Associated Press show Yeonsoo Go, a student at Purdue's College of Pharmacy, embracing her mother after her release in Manhattan Monday.

Mary Rothwell Davis, attorney for the Episcopal Diocese of New York, told 13News Go was released to her mother on her own recognizance, but did not know any other terms of the release.

"We are overjoyed, Rothwell told CNN. "We've worked very hard for our voices to be heard and to lift her up, and to convey the message that (Yeonsoo) does not deserve to be in detention and it's been heard."

"We are hopeful she will be back at Purdue in the next few weeks
