A 9-year-old boy was pronounced dead at a hospital after a fire spread through a house early Tuesday morning in Prince George's County, according to fire crews.

At about 1:43 a.m., firefighters responded to the 5800 block of Auth Road in Suitland, Maryland, to the report of a fire at a two-story house.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire had traveled from the first floor to the second floor, where crews found the 9-year-old boy. Assistant Fire Chief Carroll Spriggs said the boy was removed from a window on the second floor and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
