Four people are due in court after police investigations into shoplifting in Medway. The alleged incidents saw meat, cleaning products and clothes stolen

On Saturday (August 2) officers in an unmarked car saw two men acting suspiciously outside the BP petrol station in Maidstone Road, Chatham.

One of them was arrested and the second was detained in Elm Avenue, where it is alleged that a constable was struck in the face. A quantity of meat products was also seized.

Steven Kinsella, 49, and James Turner, 43, both of no fixed address, were later charged with theft.

Turner was conditionally bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 12. Kinsella, who was also charged with assaulting an emergency worker, was remanded to a hearing at the same court on Monday 4 Aug
