LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - A month after President Trump touted the opening of “Alligator Alcatraz,” a detention center for illegal immigrants built in the Everglades, a major network news report has Nebraska on a short list of potential sites for similar facilities.

A July 18 NewsNation report said Kristi Noem, Secretary of the U.S. Department Homeland Security, had been in touch with “five GOP governors about their states’ housing detention centers.” According to a CBS News article published on Monday , that list may have been pared down to three, as Nebraska, Arizona, and Lousiana are reportedly “already under consideration.”

When touring the facility in Florida on July 1, President Trump told reporters that he’d like to see similar facilities in “really, many states.”
