The Hicks Park Fire in the Vernal Ranger District of Ashley National Forest is controlled. “Fire crews responded to a fire near Hicks Park on Friday, August 1st,” shares the announcement. “The fire [was] estimated at approximately 1 acre in size and located east of the South Fork of Ashley Creek and south of the Red Cloud Loop Road. Firefighters aggressively worked to suppress the fire, utilizing local resources and a helicopter dropping water.” As of the latest announcement, the fire reached 0.7 acres and crews remained in the area mopping up and looking for any remaining heat or smoke. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
