GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Two parents face multiple felony charges after their 8-month-old infant overdosed and was found unconscious and not breathing at their Gaston County home last month.

Kayla Wilhelm, 29, and Bobby McKinney, 33, were arrested Aug. 4 in connection with the July 27 overdose at a residence on Rural Retreat Road in Bessemer City, according to Gaston County Police.

Officers responded to the overdose call and found the infant unconscious and not breathing. Gaston County EMS treated the child at the scene before transporting the infant to CaroMont Regional Hospital, where the child was treated and is recovering, police said.
