Mobile City Councilman William Carroll called on his colleagues Tuesday to kill a controversial deal to sell city-owned land worth more than $300,000 to the Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association (MAMGA) for $1. The body unanimously voted to do so after Carroll and the CEO of the nearby Dearborn YMCA questioned the deal last week.

“We’re killing it. We’re going to kill it today,” Carroll said during the council’s pre-meeting work session Tuesday morning. “I didn't get any information from the administration, haven't talked to them about anything else, so let's just vote it down today.”
