AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Potter County Sheriff’s Office is looking for participants for its 17th annual Adult Citizen’s Academy starting in September.
The academy officially starts on Tuesday, September 2 and runs every Tuesday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 13103 NE 29th in the Law Enforcement Center Classroom.
Officials say the academy is free and gives Amarillo citizens a chance to see what the sheriff’s office does each day.
During the academy, participants will hear from each division, get a chance to do a ride along with patrol deputies, shoot on a Saturday at the gun range, and tour the jail.
Officials say participants will also have the opportunity to get tased if they choose to.
The academy will end with a banquet on Tuesday, November 18 at 6 p.m.
