CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) -- At the beginning of August 2025, Governor Morrisey announced that a waiver was signed that would allow soda to be removed as an entitlement from SNAP in West Virginia.

According to a press release on Monday, August 4, 2025, the signing of a federal waiver that would let soda be removed "as an entitlement under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)," was announced by Governor Morrisey, who joined U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy.
