A former Packers draft pick has been convicted in what FBI agents called the largest federal dog fighting case in history.

A federal jury found Leshon Eugene Johnson, of Broken Arrow, guilty of six felony counts following a multi-day trial in Oklahoma last week.

Johnson, 54, violated the Animal Welfare Act, which prohibits possessing, selling, transporting, and delivering animals to be used in fighting ventures.

Agents previously seized 190 pit-bull type dogs after Johnson was charged in March. The United States Marshals Service has been organizing care for the animals.

FBI Director Kash Patel called dogfighting crimes “despicable” while U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Wilson decried it as “a vicious and cruel crime that has no place in a civilized society.”
