NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – An alleged associate in a North Charleston corruption investigation involving three former city councilmembers changed his plea to guilty Tuesday, according to federal court documents.
Hason Tatorian “Tory” Fields agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery, bribery, and honest services wire fraud for allegedly using bribes to influence a councilmember.
Records show Fields must debrief the government on the unlawful activity he was involved in and testify in court if called to do so. He must also pay restitution and could face a maximum sentence of 35 years in prison.
Field was involved in a scheme to push forward a rezoning request for the former Baker Hospital site by Sea Fox boats.
