SHAWNEE, Kan. -- The victim of last week's stabbing at a Shawnee, Kansas restaurant is now home from the hospital.
Reilly Sweeney, 30, was badly hurt during the attack on Thursday, July 31, at his family's restaurant, Hayward's Pit Bar B Que, near West 75th Street and Nieman Road.
His father, Eric Sweeney said Reilly is now home and recovering but has a long road ahead.
Reilly was released from the hospital less than three days after he was stabbed at the restaurant. He is now recovering from the attack that left him with more than 40 stitches, a punctured lung and staples in his head.
Eric Sweeney claims the suspect entered the restaurant's bathroom and refused to leave.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Maikol Valdes, who now faces a first-degree attempted murder charge.
