A road rage incident Saturday morning along U.S. Highway 6 escalated to a pursuit through southwestern Golden, ending in two arrests.

Authorities confirm Denver’s Pierre Morris, 38, and Englewood’s Shakeyah Jackson, 29, were arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, felony menacing, felony eluding and other crimes.

They will be formally charged at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Around 8 a.m. Saturday, a motorist called 911 saying an erratic driver fired a handgun at him while the two vehicles driving along U.S. 6 westbound near Tunnel 1, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office .

Authorities attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, but it fled eastbound along U.S. 6, then southbound on Highway 93, then onto Golden’s Heritage Road.
