ISLE OF PALMS, S.C. (WCBD) Isle of Palms has faced harsh traffic conditions this summer for residents and visitors getting on and off the island and their leaders want to change that.

During the summer, traffic on the Isle of Palms connector saw volumes of 25,000 vehicles per day. This would result in gridlock conditions and travel times exceeding 90 minutes just to exit the island. "It took me almost an hour and half to get from my house to the connector and not even across," said Isle of Palms Councilmember Jan Anderson. "At that point, everyone else was experiencing the same thing and we decided it was too much."

The traffic study would monitor the Palm Blvd. and 14th Avenue intersection as well as the connector. The study will also allow officials to use the South Carolina Department
