GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The U.S. Small Business Administration is in Grand Island for the next month, helping residents and business owners apply for disaster loans following the June floods.

The loans are available for homeowners, renters, small businesses and nonprofit organizations impacted by the flooding.

Homeowners may be eligible for up to $500,000 in low-interest loans to repair or replace damaged property. An additional 20% may be available for improvements that help prevent future flood damage.

Small businesses can apply for up to $2 million to cover physical damages and economic losses.

The disaster assistance became available after Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen requested federal support at the end of July.
