PORTSMOUTH — Less than a week before preliminary plans for a proposed aquaculture farm in the Sakonnet River were to be discussed during a Harbor Commission meeting, the application has been withdrawn.
Aquidneck Island residents Connor Eaton and Sam Gorton had proposed a two-acre oyster and bay scallop aquaculture lease off the shore between Immokolee Drive and Homestead Lane.
A preliminary determination aquaculture application before the R.I. Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) was to be discussed during the town’s Harbor Commission meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
