Barrington officials are organizing a special meeting to discuss the wet field policy which restricts the use of local athletic fields during wet weather conditions.

The meeting stems from a situation this past spring — a youth sports league disagreed with the town’s determination that a field was too wet to play on and allowed for games to take place. League representatives and town officials shared a terse email exchange following the incident, and in late June the Barrington Park and Recreation Commission recommended that leagues caught violating the town’s wet field policy should be banned from using the field for a week and also pay a landscaping contractor to repair the damaged field.
