If Cheap Trickian isn’t a word, it should be, and it should be used to describe Supercrush, who have that sunshiney melodic but still hard-rocking power pop sound down pat. This is pure ’70s driving around in a car with buddies and singing along to music. Frontman Mark Palm first entered the public consciousness as the singer for hardcore act Go It Alone, and even in the midst of their crunching sonic onslaught, one could hear the love of melody that would take center stage in his next band. Star 99, Dusk, and Neutral Shirt share the bill.
