PURVIS, Miss. (WDAM) - A Lumberton man arrested in January with about 5 pound of methamphetamine in his possession was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday.
After a two-day trial, Maurice Antonio Fairley, 40, was found guilty by a 15th District Circuit Court jury Tuesday on one count of aggravated trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
The jury also found that Fairley was a habitual offender as well as a second and subsequent drug offender because of two prior convictions for a drug crime and for felony fleeing.
Circuit Court Judge Prentiss Harrell sentenced Fairley to the statutorily-authorized penalty of life in prison for the aggravated trafficking charge, and 30 years to be served day-for-day on the possession charge.
