SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — Voters decided Tuesday if San Tan Valley will become a town or stay an unincorporated area.

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors scheduled the election back in May after voting to validate a petition that called for the area's incorporation.

As of Wednesday morning, all ballots have been tabulated and the votes strongly lean towards incorporation, according to the county's unofficial early results !

County officials said the petition included about 800 pages and 10,000 signatures—reportedly making it the largest incorporation petition in Arizona history.

The unincorporated area has an estimated population of over 100,000 residents, which could make San Tan Valley the most populated municipality in Pinal County if the incorporation vote succeeds.
