The Grand Old Man of that most American of musical forms, the blues, Buddy Guy, has been a treasured figure on the musical landscape since his early albums with blues harpist Junior Wells. Guy launched his own concurrent solo career in the mid-’60s, and his fiery style would influence generations of players in and beyond the blues. Always a dazzling performer, Guy cut a memorable figure with his polka-dotted shirts and matching guitar. But it has always been his music and showmanship that earned him fame. Now at age 89, he’s on an extended victory lap he’s calling his “Damn Right Farewell” tour.
