MANASSAS PARK, Va. — Private data may have been compromised during a ransomware attack on Manassas Park City Schools last month, the school district said Tuesday.

MPCS was reportedly the victim of a data incident on or around June 12. Officials say MPCS’s management, IT and third-party cybersecurity experts investigated the incident as soon as the school system became aware.

"To date, our investigation revealed that malicious actors gained access to MPCS’s network on or about June 12, 2025, and deployed ransomware to encrypt portions of the network," the school district said in a press release. "The malicious actors’ network access was terminated as soon as it was detected."
