The annual National Night Out, which happens on the first Tuesday of August, aims to build stronger relationships between law enforcement and the community and even help police look for new recruits.

The Natick Police Department started setting up for their National Night Out early Tuesday morning.

“It was a lot of fun last year and I think we owe it to the public to do it this year,” Lt. Chad Howard said.

Natick’s event was scheduled at Memorial Field with law enforcement exhibitions and other attractions, including free food thanks to community donations.
