Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) is hosting its annual KidFest on Wednesday, Aug. 6, to provide school supplies to students heading into the new school year. The event is drive-thru only.

KidFest began a few years ago as an in-person fair, but PCHS switched to a drive-thru format during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was such a success, we had to stick with the drive-thru,” said PCHS Marketing Manager, Marquitta Andrus.

It will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at two PCHS locations: Marydale Ave in Soldotna and Frontage Rd in Kenai.

Andrus said the backpacks are pre-packed with school supplies and other useful items, such as dental kits and flashlights.

PCHS will distribute 400 backpacks in Soldotna and 200 in Kenai.

KidFest is free and will be open to the public.
