QUINCY (WGEM) - Some Quincy water customers who use autopay were inadvertently charged a late fee.
City officials told WGEM News that the city was unable to process utility payments on July 11 due to a network failure that occurred during the relocation of the city’s utility billing offices.
As a result, penalties were automatically assessed on July 12 to some customers who were enrolled in autopay with a due date of July 11.
Customers who attempted a one-time online payment on July 11 were also charged a late fee.
City officials stated they are aware of the issue and are in the process of manually removing the late fees
Customers enrolled in bank drafting were not impacted.
