ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) - The Hummingbird Festival will take place at Siloam Springs State Park on Saturday.
Anyone is welcome to attend the free event and no registration is required.
Vern Kleen will lead the event, sharing extensive knowledge on hummingbirds, while processing data on the birds they catch.
Attendees can participate in adopting a hummingbird, allowing them to hold and release a bird back into the wild.
“It starts at nine-o-clock and goes until noon, we will be out banding hummingbirds,” said Dean Corgiat, site superintendent of Siloam Springs State Park. “You can even adopt a hummingbird while you’re here for $5. You’ll get to hold it and let it go. Then, they’ll report back to you if they catch it again.“
Corgiat also said the event has continued to see more attend
