EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — National Night Out brought hundreds of residents together at the CK Newsome Center in Evansville to strengthen community ties and unite against crime.

The event celebrated the collaboration between neighbors and local law enforcement.

"Enjoy the night with your family, get some food, and learn about different items available to you in the city and get to know your first responders, that's what it's all about," Sgt. Joshua Brewer said.

Evansville police officers and Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies organized the event to celebrate the nationwide initiative.

"This happens all over the country and it happens tonight in different cities and states around the United States," said Brewer.
